TPD Identifies Pedestrian Struck And Killed Monday Morning

Tuscaloosa Police have identified a woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle sometime Monday morning.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa Police have identified a woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle sometime Monday morning.

TPD told local media Wednesday night that the victim was identified as 37-year-old Britany Nicole Sims. Investigators have also identified the driver and said the case will be presented to a grand jury to determine if he will face criminal charges.

Patch previously reported that a passerby called 911 at 1:13 a.m. to report that someone was lying in the roadway on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Short 16th Street.

Sims was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the arrival of first responders.
