TPD: Woman Dies After Being Struck By 18-Wheeler On I-359

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit provided an update following a fatal accident that occurred on Interstate 359 Wednesday morning.

TPD says officers responded to the northbound lanes I-359 at 5:23 a.m. Wednesday and found that a 30-year-old Tuscaloosa resident was involved in a one-vehicle crash as she exited the ramp from Interstate 20/59, with her car coming to rest across the middle lane of I-359.

A witness then told TPD officers that the woman exited her car after the accident and was then struck by an oncoming 18-wheeler.
She was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center after the incident but died from her injuries Wednesday morning.

The identity of the woman has not been made public at this time.
Traffic flow was also impacted in the area during the initial investigation and rerouted until 10 a.m. when the road reopened.
