Tuscaloosa Agencies Partner To Educate Students On Impaired Driving During Prom Season
The event, which is aimed at teen drivers, is intended to educate students during high school prom and graduation seasons.

TUSCALOOSA, AL β The Tuscaloosa Police Department, along with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Tuscaloosa City Schools (TCS), and Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, have partnered to offer a series of educational events to raise awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The event, which is aimed at teen drivers, is intended to educate students during high school prom and graduation seasons.

TPD says the sessions planned for Thursday, March 28, at the city's three high schools, aim to educate students about the potential consequences of impaired driving while providing students with the knowledge and tools needed to make responsible decisions.
Attendees will be able to use impairment goggles, which demonstrate the harmful effects of alcohol or drug impairment.

Additionally, exercises will show how balance, vision, reaction time and judgment can be affected.
"Together, we are committed to fostering a safe and responsible environment for our students, ensuring their well-being during this festive time of year," TPD Deputy Chief Sebo Sanders said.
"We believe that by raising awareness and providing students with the necessary tools and information, we can significantly reduce the instances of impaired driving during prom and graduation season, ultimately ensuring the safety of our youth and the entire community."

Central High School β 9 a.m.
Bryant High School β 11 a.m.
Northridge High School β 1 p.m.
