Tuscaloosa Approves 15-Year Deal To Host Kentuck Festival Of The Arts

The partnership agreement will keep the Kentuck Festival of the Arts in the city for the next 15 years.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa City Council on Tuesday approved a highly anticipated partnership agreement that will keep the Kentuck Festival of the Arts in the city for the next 15 years.

“Having such a culturally renowned event in our city is a great source of pride for me and for our community,” Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox said. “By committing to this 15-year partnership, we are investing in our future generations.”

Founded in Northport in 1971, Kentuck has grown into a nationally recognized arts festival and last year made the move to Tuscaloosa’s newly renovated Snow Hinton Park.

Last year’s installment of the festival reportedly attracted more than 16,000 attendees.

“We are grateful to the City of Tuscaloosa for their commitment to Kentuck and the arts,” Kentuck Art Center Executive Director Exa Skinner said. “This 15-year partnership reflects the strength of our collaboration, and we look forward to watching it grow in the years ahead.”

This year’s festival is scheduled for Oct. 11-12 at Snow Hinton Park.
