Tuscaloosa County Teacher Arrested At School For Public Intoxication
A teacher at Lloyd Wood Education Center in Northport was arrested Friday during school hours and charged with public intoxication.

NORTHPORT, AL — Tuscaloosa Patch has confirmed a teacher at Lloyd Wood Education Center in Northport was arrested Friday during school hours and charged with public intoxication.

Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Jessica McDaniel confirmed to Patch that James Steven Cox was arrested Friday on the lone charge and booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail after his bond on the misdemeanor was set at $300.

The Tuscaloosa County School System confirmed the arrest to Patch and in a message to parents Saturday morning, saying Cox was arrested at the school.
"Because of laws that govern employee privacy, we cannot publicly discuss details of a legal investigation involving an employee," TCSS Superintendent Keri Johnson said in a statement. "However, it is important for our families and community to know that Mr. Cox is on administrative leave and TCSS will cooperate fully with law enforcement in their investigation."
