Tuscaloosa Man Charged In Franklin County For Using Fake Cashier's Check

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Tuscaloosa man is in custody in Franklin County after being accused of using a fake cashier’s check when trying to purchase a vehicle from a private seller for $35,000.

The Russellville Police Department said Monday that Jakari Deyon Wills, 25, was jailed after police worked nearly two years to identify, locate, and arrest him.

RPD also cited other incidents unrelated to Wills, where vehicles and other valuable items were stolen by other types of fraud, such as fake money, forged checks, fake money orders, etc.

"If you are making a private sale/purchase of a vehicle or other valuable items, especially when you are unfamiliar with the seller/buyer, we would be happy to let you complete the transaction at our Police Department," authorities said in a Facebook post. "We can also assist with voluntarily identifying the persons involved in the transaction."

Wills is being held at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office with his bond set at $20,000.
