Tuscaloosa Municipal Court Offers New Job Kiosk

The city has partnered with West AlabamaWorks to install a Career Connect Job Kiosk in the lobby of the city's Municipal Court Building.

TUSCALOOSA, AL β€” The City of Tuscaloosa on Thursday announced it has partnered with West AlabamaWorks to install a Career Connect Job Kiosk in the lobby of the city’s Municipal Court Building.

The city says the new kiosk aims to provide employment opportunities for individuals who are navigating court proceedings and may be in need of work.

β€œThe goal of these kiosks is to meet people where they are, and allow them to apply for jobs instantly,” Education and Employment Project Manager for West AlabamaWorks Tonya Mills said. β€œWe have kiosks located in accessible locations around the West Alabama community, and we are proud to add one to the Municipal Court Lobby in Tuscaloosa.”

The West AlabamaWorks kiosk will give users access to over 500 high-wage, high-demand jobs in the West Alabama area, with users able to create a digital resume and submit applications instantly.

β€œOne of the biggest problems we encounter is defendants who are unable to afford court fines,” Municipal Court Judge Ricky J. McKinney said. β€œThis is a wonderful opportunity to be able to find a job, come back to court and get that case dismissed.”
