Tuscaloosa Oktoberfest Set For Sept. 21

Visit Tuscaloosa has announced that Oktoberfest is set to return on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Druid City Social on Greensboro Avenue.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Visit Tuscaloosa has announced that Oktoberfest is set to return on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Druid City Social on Greensboro Avenue.

The festival will kick off with a traditional keg tapping, followed by a range of activities including a dachshund race, a stein-holding contest, and a costume contest. Entertainment will feature a performance by the German band Oompah-Calypse and other live music acts.

“We’re thrilled to bring Tuscaloosa Oktoberfest back, especially with the support from Mercedes-Benz U.S. International and their 5K race,” Visit Tuscaloosa President and CEO Kelsey Rush said. “This festival, with its roots in our Sister City Schorndorf, Germany, is becoming a cherished annual tradition.”

General admission tickets are priced at $15 and include a special edition commemorative stein.

Children 12 and under can attend for free. Activities and inflatables will be available in the Kids Zone, which is sponsored by Tuscaloosa County Parks and Recreation Authority (PARA) and Tuscaloosa Academy.

Craft breweries will also offer a variety of beers and vendors will provide a selection of German food, pretzels, and desserts.

VIP tickets are priced at $75 and include food, access to indoor restrooms and TVs for college football, special seating for the dachshund race and three beer tickets.

Visit Tuscaloosa says only 200 VIP tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The 5K race will be presented by Mercedes-Benz U.S. International and will start at 9 a.m. in downtown Tuscaloosa.

Early bird registration for the 5K is open until Aug. 11 for $40 and includes race entry, a T-shirt, a commemorative beer stein, free admission to Oktoberfest and a free beer for participants 21 and older.
