Tuscaloosa Police Identify Pedestrian Killed On Skyland Boulevard

The Tuscaloosa Police Department has identified a Fosters woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Skyland Boulevard Thursday night.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Police Department has identified a Fosters woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Skyland Boulevard Thursday night.

After next of kin was notified, the victim was identified as 22-year-old Kaitlynn Chiana Cook, who had repeatedly been at a nearby laundromat with family members.

As Patch previously reported, TPD said Friday morning that officers, along with Tuscaloosa Fire and Northstar EMS, responded to the 200 block of Skyland Boulevard East at 8 p.m. to find the woman unresponsive.

Cook was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center but was pronounced dead a short time later.

TPD says the driver and passenger told investigators they were traveling west on Skyland Boulevard when the woman walked into the street around 8 p.m.

TPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit is conducting the follow-up investigation and the woman has not been publicly identified.
