TUSCALOOSA, AL β€” The Tuscaloosa Police Department on Friday identified a woman who was struck and killed as she was walking across Interstate 359 early Wednesday morning.

The victim was identified as Brianna Shaunta Nelson, 23, of Tuscaloosa.

As Patch previously reported, TPD said the woman was walking east across the southbound lanes of the 3100 block of I-359 when she was struck by an oncoming box truck.

TPD then said the driver of an SUV behind the box truck swerved into a second box truck, which then struck the woman.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department says the accident occurred at approximately 4:29 a.m.

Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene.
