TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Police Department has identified a woman who was struck and killed in a hit-and-run on Englewood Village Drive Thursday night.

TPD says Patricia Ann Brooks, 58, was struck by a vehicle that left the scene around 9:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Englewood Village Drive — a short walking distance from her residence.

TPD spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor told local media that another driver called 911 at 9:32 p.m. after he saw the woman in the roadway.
She then said paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene.

TPD also said investigators spoke with family members and learned that the woman suffered from a medical condition that could have caused her to collapse while walking, before she was struck by the vehicle.
TPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit is actively working to locate the driver who left the scene, which is a Class C felony.
