Tuscaloosa Police On Scene Of NYE Shooting Outside Academy Sports
One person was seriously injured after police received a report of a shooting in the parking lot at Academy Sports + Outdoors on Skyland.
TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Police Department says one person was found to be seriously injured after police received a report of a shooting in the parking lot at Academy Sports + Outdoors on Skyland Boulevard Sunday night.

TPD confirmed that the initial call of the shooting came in at 7:04 p.m., with a 42-year-old man being injured by gunfire in the parking lot of the store before being transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in a private vehicle as individuals called 911.

The extent of the man's injuries is not known at this time.
TPD spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor said the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit is currently on the scene of the shooting and no other information is available at this time.
