Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center Gearing Up For Veteran Flu Vaccine Campaign Kickoff

The Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center announced it will kick off its annual flu vaccine campaign on Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center is gearing up to kick off its annual flu vaccine campaign on Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Building 137 Sports Atrium.

This year's theme — “Go for the Gold” — will feature Olympic-themed decorations, games, giveaways, food, and more, creating an engaging atmosphere for veterans.

Veterans are encouraged to stop by anytime during the event to receive their flu vaccine and no pre-registration is required.

To participate, veterans must be enrolled at the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center.

What's more, for those unable to attend the kickoff, the vaccine will also be available at the Primary Care Clinic, which the VA plans to reopen on Monday, Sept. 30.

The Primary Care vaccine clinic is located in Building 38, Room 228, and will be operational Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Appointments can be scheduled for various vaccines, including flu and COVID-19, by calling 1-(855) 679-0214 or directly with the clinic at (205) 554-2000, ext. 3318.

For more information about the flu vaccine or the kickoff event, veterans can contact Health Promotion Disease Prevention Coordinator Anita Rutledge at (205) 554-2000, ext. 2057.

The VA says other inquiries regarding the vaccine clinic can be directed to Ehrica Speigner at (205) 554-2000, ext. 3857.
