Tuscaloosa's Ian Terry Collecting Donations For Best Buddies Champion Of The Year Campaign

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A beloved and well-known Tuscaloosa native is one of 10 inspiring individuals competing for the coveted title of Best Buddies Champion of the Year in Alabama.

A graduate of the University of Alabama's RISE Center who has worked at the center for nearly two decades, Ian Terry is actively collecting donations for his fundraising campaign to be named 2024 Champion of the Year.

Best Buddies is a nonprofit organization with the mission of ending the social, physical and economic isolation of the 200 million people worldwide with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Ian has made quite the name for himself on the local scene — both as an involved member of his community and with a growing TikTok following.

On the popular video social media platform, Ian has over 1,400 followers and can be seen spreading his unique brand of positivity, especially while wearing his many costumes that include Harry Potter, Peter Pan and Beetlejuice. He is also a die-hard fan of country music icon LeAnn Rimes.

For those wanting to keep up with this local rock star, Ian can be found on TikTok at @Kingianterry2.0.

Donations can be made by clicking here, on the QR code in the photo below or by mailing checks to P.O. box 2926 Tuscaloosa, Alabama, 35401, with a memo for "Alabama Best Buddies - Ian Terry campaign."

Best Buddies Champion of the Year candidates commit to raising as much as possible to support the nonprofit — with a goal of $3,500.

Each candidate will be recognized at the Champion of the Year Gala on Thursday, Nov. 7 at The Fennec in Downtown Birmingham, where the winner will be announced.
