Representatives from the library system will be on hand during each grand opening to demonstrate how to use the new machines and to sign up residents for library cards.
The Vending Library machines are designed for indoor use, TPL says, and the self-service cabinet provides residents with access to a curated selection of library materials, including adult fiction and nonfiction, children’s fiction, picture books, and pre-K reading materials.

The Vending Libraries will also allow patrons to browse, check out, and return items directly at the machines using their library cards.
The machines will be accessible during normal operating hours at the two PARA activity centers.
TPL says residents do not need to be members of PARA to use this service, but a library card is required for the machines.
The library system said this initiative was made possible by an allocation of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds approved by the Tuscaloosa County Commission.
