Victim Identified, No Arrests After Fatal Shooting On 33rd Avenue

Police have identified a Tuscaloosa man killed in a shooting Thursday night on 33rd Avenue but has yet to apprehend any suspects.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit has identified a Tuscaloosa man killed in a shooting Thursday night on 33rd Avenue but has yet to apprehend any suspects.

As Patch previously reported, the Tuscaloosa Police Department responded at around 10 p.m. Thursday night to the 800 block of 33rd Avenue and found a man had been shot.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the multi-agency unit, told local media on Friday that once police were at the scene, medical assistance was rendered to the man who had been shot.

Kennedy said the victim was transported to the hospital but later died from his injuries.

The victim was identified as 34-year-old Christopher Shobe.

Kennedy said anyone who witnessed the shooting or has any information is asked to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at (205) 464-8690 or the Tuscaloosa Police Department at (205) 349-212.

He also said confidential and anonymous tips can be provided to Crime Stoppers at 205-752-STOP (7867).
