Jimmy Warren Named Executive Director Of UA's National Alumni Association

Warren brings decades of experience and extensive university service to his new role at the association, which will begin next month.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa native and celebrated marketing executive Jimmy E. Warren on Monday was announced as the new associate vice president for Alumni Affairs at the University of Alabama and executive director of the National Alumni Association.

“The University Office of Alumni Affairs and the UA National Alumni Association will greatly benefit from Jimmy’s leadership and areas of expertise, including business strategy and client relationships,” UA’s Vice President for Advancement Bob Pierce said. “His commitment to fostering strong connections between alumni and the University has been evident in his service to the National Alumni Association and elsewhere across campus. I’m excited to have him joining us and look forward to all he will accomplish in this position,” Pierce said.

UA says Warren brings decades of professional experience and extensive university service to his new role at the association, which is set to begin Jan. 16, 2024.

Warren presently serves as president of TotalCom Marketing Communications — a marketing and advertising firm with offices in Tuscaloosa and Huntsville.

Warren purchased the company in 1983 and grew the company to now serve local and regional clients throughout the Southeast.

He is a 1976 graduate of the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science and also earned a master’s degree in biblical studies from Abilene Christian University in 1978.

Warren was also touted by university officials for bringing a long tenure of university support and service with him to the role.

Warren is noted for volunteering with alumni chapters and serving as president of the National Alumni Association’s executive committee for the 2014-15 year.

What's more, Warren has endowed two scholarships with the association and is currently a member of the board of directors for the 1831 Foundation, while also serving on the board of visitors for the College of Communication and Information Sciences.

A member of UA President Stuart Bell’s Cabinet, Warren was also selected as The University of Alabama National Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumnus in 2022.

“I am honored to be selected to serve the University and the National Alumni Association,” Warren said. “This opportunity will allow me to share the excellence of the Alabama experience with people across the country. I look forward to working collaboratively with the alumni community and contributing to the continued success and growth of the association.”
