Woman In Critical Condition After Crashing Into Tuscaloosa Police Vehicle
A woman is critical condition following a crash with a parked Tuscaloosa Police Department vehicle early Monday morning.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Tuscaloosa Police initially told local media that the woman involved in the crash had died of her injuries before amending their statement to say she was in critical condition.

TPD confirmed to Tuscaloosa Patch that the woman, who has not been publicly identified at this time, was driving on Stillman Boulevard at 29th Avenue around 7:40 a.m. when she struck the rear of a parked TPD Tahoe that was occupied by an officer who had stopped to assist another motorist.
Investigators believe the collision occurred as the woman was suffering a medical emergency and she was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa immediately following the crash.

She remains in critical condition at the hospital and TPD says they believe the crash was caused by the medical event.
The Northport Police Department responded due to a TPD vehicle being involved, and will make a final determination regarding the cause of the crash.
