• Valley Senior Center hosts gala event (valleytimes-news.com) — Valley’s seniors are getting some extra holiday attention as the Valley Senior Center plans a Golden Gala Senior Prom-style event to make older residents feel celebrated. Inspired partly by a statewide May Day trip, staff hope this local dance, music, and social time will revive the kind of community gatherings many Valley seniors remember from their younger days.
   

• 101 anglers set to compete on 2026 Progressive Bassmaster Elite Series (bassmaster.com) — Valley residents will see hometown pro angler Kyle Welcher representing “Valley, Ala.” in the 101-angler field for the 2026 Progressive Bassmaster Elite Series. The national bass fishing tour kicks off at Lake Guntersville in February and will span six states, with anglers chasing $100,000 top prizes and points toward the 2027 Bassmaster Classic.
