Here are the top three stories today in Anchorage:
- An Anchorage man accused of shooting police during an hours-long standoff earlier this month has been indicted on multiple charges, including attempted murder. 28-year-old Dillon Spring was arrested and charged after a standoff with police on Mar. 18, in which Spring allegedly began shooting at officers and struck one in the process. If convicted, Spring could face up to 99 years in prison for each count of attempted first-degree murder. (Alaska's News Source)
- The city of Anchorage has received over 30,550 ballot envelopes ahead of election day on Tuesday. According to election officials, challenges plaguing last year's mayoral election —including slow ballot counts and harassment of officials — have not happened this time around. This year, voters will elect five Assembly members and two school board members, as well as decide the fate of municipal and school district bond proposals. (Anchorage Daily News)
- Danielle Rabinovitch's one-woman play, NO MORE HARVEYS, celebrated its world premiere at Cyrano's on Friday. The show is designed to spark conversation about social and environmental disruption, as well as give a voice to the women fighting for climate change. Shows will run Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:00 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. through Apr. 17; general admission tickets are $30, while tickets for seniors, students, and military are $27.
