Shriners Hospitals for Children is one of the greatest philanthropies in the world. Ladies’ Oriental Shrine of North America, Inc., (LOSNA) plays a major role in supporting this philanthropy and the 22 Shrine Hospitals throughout North America in providing state of the art orthopedic, cleft lip and palate, and burns treatment to children from around the world at no cost to their families. For over 50 years, the members of Waheed Court #81 have worked tirelessly to help Alaskan children – over 700 to date – get the medical care they need both locally and out of state. 

We will be holding our annual fundraiser virtually this March. Our theme this year is It’s in the Bag…For the Kids!  This event is our main fundraising event for the year. 

The majority of the monies we raise support the Outreach Clinics held in Anchorage twice a year and the Al Aska Shrine Patient Transportation Fund. The Outreach Clinics bring a team of doctors and nurses to Anchorage from the Shriners Hospital for Children in Portland (where most Alaska patients are treated) to provide outpatient checkups or current patients and screen new patients. The transportation fund helps transport Alaska’s Shrine Kids, along with a parent or guardian, from their Alaska home to Anchorage for the outreach clinics and to the Shrine Hospital that best meets that child’s needs. We also provide financial support to the Shrine Hospitals for research, patient programs, and medical equipment such as the MAGEC rod used to treat scoliosis. Again, families are never charged for this care.  

We rely on the generosity of donors in our community to carry out this important mission. Any items, including gift cards, you can donate to our fundraiser will be accepted graciously.  We ask that all donations be received by March 5, 2022. All donations are appreciated deeply.
