Here are the top 3 stories today in Anchorage:

  1. Since Sullivan Arena is still being used as a mass homeless shelter, Anchorage high school seniors will be celebrating their graduation at the Alaska Airlines Center. Years before the pandemic began, seniors would graduate at Sullivan Arena as a part of a state tradition. Due to the switch, seniors will not only have the location of their graduation changed, but they will also have just six tickets to distribute to family members and friends. For more information, please make sure to read the full article. (Anchorage Daily News)
  2. Anchorage Mayor Bronson has recently selected Robert Hudson to lead the Anchorage library system. Hudson was Bronson’s third pick for the library director, and Bronson is looking forward to working with him in the future. Bronson’s previous picks were denied by the Assembly because both candidates did not have a master’s degree in library science which is a prerequisite for the position. Fortunately, Hudson does have a master’s in the area, but it is up to the Assembly’s approval whether or not he will be selected to serve. (Alaska Public Media News)
  3. Anchorage's homelessness plan is seeking to end homelessness within the community. The plan started off with an allocated $6 million. Since then, private donors such as Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority, Calista Corp., and more have come together to donate around $7 million towards the project. The public-private partnership is going to expand homelessness services across Anchorage. (Anchorage Daily News)
