Here are the top three stories in Anchorage today:
- Initial election results are showing that most Anchorage Assembly and school board incumbents are successfully holding off their challengers. As of Wednesday, incumbents Forrest Dunbar of East Anchorage, Meg Zaletel of Midtown, and Kameron Perez-Verdia of West Anchorage all have solid leads of 8 to 16 points over their challengers. South Anchorage contenders Randy Sulte is holding a razor-thin margin over incumbent John Weddleton. Election results will be certified on Apr. 26. (Alaska Public Media News)
- Two Anchorage men have been indicted for the murder of a man whose body was discovered in a tote in a local residence last month. Adam Pringle and Daniel Rocero allegedly killed Kennan Wegener on Mar. 18. They are facing counts of second-degree murder, manslaughter, and evidence tampering. (Alaska Native News)
- Once it completes an inventory reduction, Anchorage ski shop SkiAK is closing after eight years in business. The store has served the local community as well as national sports teams for the Olympics and World Cup. “There is a bit of heartache,” said owner Russell Sell. “I’ve made tremendous friends who have been our suppliers. I’ve had valuable staff over the years that have given their time and I honor that.” (Alaska's News Source)
