🌱 Local Teacher Wins Milken Educator Award + Ice Dogs Win Club 49 Cup

  1. A teacher at West Anchorage High School was awarded the prestigious Milken Educator Award in a surprise ceremony last week. Temperance Tinker-Kays has been teaching English for 13 years and is one of 60 educators to receive the award this year. The Milken Educator Award is given to exceptional early- to mid-career teachers and includes a $25,000 prize. (Anchorage Daily News)
  2. The Fairbanks Ice Dogs defeated the Anchorage Wolverines in a 2-0 match on Saturday. The Big Dipper Ice Arena was packed as crowds watched the Ice Dogs snatch the victory and claim the Alaska Airlines Club 49 Cup. The team had previously lost to the Wolverines during a matchup the day before. (Fairbanks Daily News-Miner)
