Here are the top 3 stories today in Anchorage:
- Sandy Snodgrass lost her son, Robert Bruce Snodgrass, to a fentanyl overdose back in October. Since then, the 59-year-old licensed counselor has been making "cold calls and [firing] off emails to television stations, newspaper editors, legislative staffers and more." She wants to share her son's story to make a change for the better. She believes that people should listen and believe the stories of a grieving mother. (Anchorage Daily News)
- A ginormous avalanche hit Anchorage this past Friday and has left nearly 100 homes cut off from the city. The avalanche was around 60 to 80 feet in depth and 300 to 400 feet in width. Many of the houses that have been cut off have also lost their power. According to the police, the removal could take several days. (CNN)
- The Anchorage School Board has defined three potential school superintendents as finalists to replace Deena Bishop. After Bishop's retirement announcement in June, the Board has been on the search.
