With the governor blocking legislators’ attempt to shift money away from the project, senators now must find new funding while other transportation projects across Alaska are being delayed.

CCFR aims to reduce response times for Juneau residents experiencing cardiac arrest (ktoo.org) — Capital City Fire/Rescue is working to cut Juneau’s roughly nine‑minute cardiac arrest response time by enlisting CPR‑trained residents and preparing to launch the PulsePoint alert app in 2026. CCFR is also building a registry of local AEDs and pointing residents to multiple CPR training options around Juneau so more bystanders can step in before medics arrive.

After a Juneau sexual assault case ended in mistrial, new defense team asks for more time to prepare next trial (ktoo.org) — A long‑running Juneau sexual assault case against a former local chiropractor is headed back to court, with a new public defender asking for more time before a second trial. Prosecutors are pushing for a quicker schedule, and a judge has now set the next hearing for Feb. 11 in Juneau.
