2 Juveniles Arrested In Phoenix Armed Robbery Case

A Phoenix man was critically injured Thursday after being shot in his car by four males trying to rob him. Two teen suspects were arrested.

PHOENIX, AZ ­— Two 15-year-old young men were booked into the Maricopa County Juvenile Court Center in connection with a Phoenix armed robbery Thursday. At about 10:00 a.m., four suspects walked up to a vehicle occupied by a 66-year-old man near 900 W. Alta Vista Road. The suspects tried to rob the man while aiming guns at him. The suspects then shot the victim.

South Mountain Precinct Neighborhood Enforcement Team members and Phoenix police detectives happened to be nearby investigating another case when they were called to the scene. They quickly took two of the four male suspects into custody, both age 15.

Shortly following the shooting, the shot man was found in his home near 400 E. Sunland Ave. He was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

Police executed two search warrants in the case, one at the victim’s home and another at a home near 900 W. Lydia Lane.

One of the two suspects still at large is believed to be a 20-year-old man, while the other male’s age is unknown by police.

The two teens arrested both face charges of attempted second-degree murder, armed robbery, minor in possession of a firearm, and discharging a firearm at a structure, Phoenix police reported.
