25-Year-Old Phoenix PD Officer Dies In Off-Duty Motorcycle Crash

Phoenix Police Officer Blake Newman, 25, died from injuries sustained from an off-duty, single-vehicle motorcycle collision in Glendale.

PHOENIX, AZ — The Phoenix Police Department Tuesday reported the off-duty death of one of their own, 25-year-old Officer Blake Newman. He died from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle accident Monday around 11 p.m. in the area of 9500 S. Maryland Ave. in Glendale, when his motorcycle ran into a curb and he then lost control of it. Newman was taken to an area hospital and there was pronounced dead.

Newman started his Phoenix Police Department service in June 2018, assigned to the Maryvale-Estrella Mountain precinct. He is survived by his parents, extended family and friends.

The Glendale Police Department continues to investigate the crash.
