7 People Shot To Death In Phoenix Over Memorial Day Weekend: Police
One man was shot by police, another was shot and run over and a senior man shot his wife and then himself, according to police.
PHOENIX, AZ — Gun violence was rampant in Phoenix over the Memorial Day weekend, leaving seven people dead and five people injured, many in unrelated shootings, according to Phoenix police.
William Potts, 80, is suspected of shooting and killing his wife, Susan Potts, 80, early Saturday morning, before turning the gun on himself at their home near 40th and Cholla streets, police said.
Phoenix police shot and killed a 52-year-old man Sunday evening near 24th Street and Cactus Road, after the man was suspected of shooting a gun inside and outside his house during a domestic dispute, police said. He was then accused of waving the gun and pointing it at police, before police shot him, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Six teens were shot, and one of them was killed early Sunday morning after a party near 59th Avenue and Thomas Road, according to police. None of those who were shot were publicly identified, but the person who was killed was an 18-year-old man, according to police.
David Standley, 49, was shot in the chest near 39th and Grovers avenues Saturday evening, according to police. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said. A man at the scene said he shot Standley in self-defense. That man was later released, police said.

John Kearns, 56, was shot and run over in a strip mall parking lot near 51st Avenue and Indian School Road Sunday afternoon, according to police.
The suspected shooter drove away before police arrived, police said. Kearns was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, police said. Police have not released a description of the shooter or the vehicle the shooter was driving.
A man who has not been publicly identified was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound near a landfill in South Phoenix Monday morning, according to police.
Police believe that the man, who was in his early 40s, was killed sometime the previous night.
He was found laying on the ground just outside the landfill near 7th Avenue and Magnolia Street, police said.
