Arizona Teachers Walkout: Some Things To Do With The Kids
With a teacher walkout scheduled to begin Thursday morning, parents are scrambling for things to do with the kids. Patch has some ideas.

PHOENIX, AZ – On Thursday morning, parents around Arizona are going to wake up and wonder what to do with the kids. Teachers around the state are planning on walking out to protest low pay and inadequate funding for education.
While there is widespread support for the action, parents are still scrambling to figure out what to with the kids for the day.
They are also beginning to wonder what happens if the walkout goes on for more than one day.

AnimalsforEd Day Camp – The Arizona Animal Welfare League & SPCA is offering a place to bring the kids for the day. There will be hands on animal presentations, arts and crafts at the camp, which will be open for 1st-8th graders from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is a $55 fee. The organization is also offering BeforeCare and AfterCare at $10 each. (Go here for more information).
Arizona Science Center – The center is offering all-day camps for kindergarten students through 5th graders from 9 a.m. through 4 p.m., starting Thursday and continuing as long as the walkout does. Early drop off and late pickup will be available. (More information is here).
Boys & Girls Clubs – The clubs throughout the region will be opening their doors to families every day during the walkout. It will be just like during the summer, with the clubs offering day camp from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.. If you're a member, camp will be free. If not, it will be $20. While breakfast will not be served, kids will be given lunch and snacks. To find a club, go here.
Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium, and Safari Park is offering one free child admission with a paid adult ticket. So, if you have the day off, here's somethign that you can do with you child.
Southwest Gymnastics in Tempe will be offering a day camp on Thursday – and maybe Friday, as well. For $25, you can drop a child off at 7 a.m. and pick them up at 3 p.m.. In between, they will have lunch, snacks, a movie, gymnastics, games, and more.
