Where to drop off Christmas trees, wreaths to be composted in Phoenix (kjzz.org) — Phoenix residents can drop off natural Christmas trees, wreaths, and even poinsettias at 13 city parks and two Sunbelt Rentals locations through January 9 for composting, including Cesar Chavez Park in south Phoenix. Officials also share New Year’s recycling and fireworks safety tips to help you cut holiday waste and avoid trash fires at home.
   

2. South Phoenix trading card shop hit by second robbery this month (azfamily.com) — Phoenix police are investigating two recent break-ins at Power Card Shop, a trading card store operating inside The Phhacility near 48th Street and Baseline Road in south Phoenix. A masked robber forced an employee to bag up thousands of dollars in collectibles, just weeks after suspects allegedly shot their way into the shop. The owner plans to boost security while keeping the store closed for several days.
   

3. Forbes Under 30 Summit Is Coming to Phoenix in 2026 (signalsaz.com) — Phoenix has been chosen as the new multi-year host city for the Forbes Under 30 Summit, with the first local edition set for April 19-22, 2026 across venues in the city. The move, backed by the Arizona Commerce Authority and praised by Gov. Katie Hobbs, is expected to spotlight Phoenix’s growing innovation economy and attract young entrepreneurs from around the world.
   

4. Holiday travel: Weather in parts of the U.S. affected flights at Phoenix Sky Harbor (fox10phoenix.com) — Holiday travelers flying through Phoenix Sky Harbor saw only four cancellations on December 29, despite severe weather snarling flights elsewhere in the country. Nearly 150 delays were reported, but most passengers described relatively smooth trips and were happy to trade snow and ice for Phoenix sunshine and warmer temperatures.
