A flash flood watch is in effect for much of Arizona, including Phoenix, from Thursday through Saturday. Here's what to know about it.

PHOENIX, AZ — A series of storms are expected to roll through the Phoenix area over the coming days, producing localized flooding throughout the region.

That's the summation given by the National Weather Service, which has issued a flash flood watch for Phoenix and surrounding areas, effective from Thursday afternoon through 11 p.m. on Saturday.

Storm chances in the Valley will increase, from 30 percent on Wednesday to 60 percent on Thursday night, and 70 percent on Friday and Saturday, the service's seven-day forecast predicts.

High temperatures during the storm period will range, from 104 degrees on Thursday to 93 degrees on Friday and 90 degrees on Saturday.

So far this month, Phoenix has received .75 inches of rain in July at the service's Sky Harbor weather station, which is virtually tied with the historic average for the month between 2011-2020 (.76 inches).
