AZ Monsoon: Gusty Winds, Flooding Possible in Phoenix; NWS
Phoenix will see increasing storm chances through Saturday, bringing heavy rain and winds in excess of 50 MPH.

PHOENIX, AZ — The Valley will see elevated rain chances, beginning Tuesday and increasing through Sunday, the National Weather Service said.
The storms, which will be capable of bringing heavy rain and winds in excess of 50 MPH, will begin showing up in the region Tuesday afternoon and evening.
The best shot of moisture is Thursday through Saturday, when the Phoenix area will have around a 70 percent chance of rain. The Valley has around a 30 percent chance of moisture on Wednesday, and a 10-20 percent chance of rain on Tuesday, by comparison.

Storms that do reach the Valley will bringing localized flooding and damaging winds, the service said.
Storm chances peak on Friday afternoon, when Phoenix will have a 72 percent chance of rain; while areas east of the city will have upwards of a 91 percent chance of moisture.

So far, the weather station at Sky Harbor has registered .75 inches of rain, which is virtually tied with the historic average for July between 2011-2020 (.76 inches).
