Ballet Arizona Returns To The Desert Botanical Garden This Month
The ballet company will perform at the gardens May 17-June 2, surrounded by the desert landscape and with the setting sun as a backdrop.

PHOENIX, AZ — Ballet Arizona will reprise its annual outdoor performances in May, with "An Evening at Desert Botanical Garden."
During this year's slate of performances, the ballet will revisit "Round" and "Mosaik," previous works of Artistic Director Ib Andersen that premiered in 2016 and 2004, respectively.
Dancer lovers will get to view Andersen's "Round, Reimagined For A New Stage," with new choreography "that embraces and showcases the vast natural backdrop of the desert," the ballet said in a news release.

The ballet plans for 15 performances at the gardens from May 17-June 2.
“I look forward to revisiting a work I created in 2016 through fresh eyes and with a focus on reworking the choreography so it's all facing one direction rather than in the round,” Andersen said. “Anytime I re-stage a work with different dancers, new ideas and new interpretations emerges. I'm excited to see how the choreography comes together with this reimagined Round.”

"Expect the unexpected as Ballet Arizona evolves, take chances, and challenges the boundaries of contemporary ballet in the desert that we call our home," Arizona Ballet said in the news release.
