Body Of Missing Phoenix Man Found In Desert: Sheriff's Office

Friends say that his car was found surrounded by strangers and was then set on fire.

PHOENIX, AZ — A body found in the desert west of I-17 off of Table Mesa Road Friday has been identified as missing 41-year-old Benjamin Anderson, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

Anderson was reported missing to Phoenix Police on Friday and his body was also found Friday but was not identified until Monday, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.

Friends reported Anderson missing Friday when calls and texts from friends and family went unanswered, The Arizona Republic reported.

A group of friends tracked down Anderson's car on Friday and reportedly saw three people they didn't know standing around it. The car was then set on fire, 12 News reported.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit is investigation Anderson's death, and asks that anyone with information call 602-876-TIPS or 602-876-1011.
