Body Of Missing Phoenix Woman Found In La Paz County: Police

The remains of Irene Luevano, who went missing over the weekend, have been found. Her boyfriend is already in custody.

PHOENIX, AZ — The body of Irene Luevano, a Phoenix woman missing since Sunday, was found in a remote area of La Paz County on Thursday, according to Phoenix Police.

Luevano's boyfriend, Jorge Quintero Lara, is accused of being involved in her death, according to police. Lara has been in Maricopa County Jail on unrelated charges since Monday.

Luevan's body was found of off Hovatter Road and the I-10 freeway in La Paz County.

There was obvious trauma to her body, according to police.

Luevano, 37, was last seen alive around 2 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of 27th Avenue and Camelback Road in Phoenix, police said.

Luevano told family that she'd been stabbed in the neck before she went missing early Sunday morning, according to Phoenix Police and a report from 12 News. The last person Luevano was known to be with on Sunday was Lara, police said.

The gray 2007 four-door Chevy Impala that police thought Luevano might be driving was found Tuesday near the intersection of 107th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road, according to police.

"This is not the result anyone was hoping for," said Phoenix Police Sgt. Vincent Cole in a news release. "The Phoenix Police Department extends its deepest condolences to Ms. Luevano’s family, loved ones and friends. We also thank the community for the support shown to the family and the police department over the past few days."
