Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today:
- The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University took home 31 awards, including two “Best of Festival” prizes, at the 2023 Broadcast Education Association’s Festival of Media Arts. The festival is the preeminent international media competition focusing on student and faculty creative endeavors. One "Best of Festival" award was given to Cronkite News for their television newscast, while Autriya Maneshni, a student, received the other award for her story "Switch Lab." - On Wednesday night, a shooting occurred at the Vaseo Apartments complex in north Phoenix, leaving a man seriously injured. According to Phoenix police spokesperson Sgt. Melissa Soliz, the victim reportedly took himself to a nearby hospital for treatment. Phoenix police are currently investigating the incident and searching for a suspect as they work to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting. (Arizona's Family)
- Uber launched a self-service cartop advertising program on Wednesday in the Phoenix area, offering a digital platform to locally-owned businesses for expanding their customer base. The program enables small- and medium-sized businesses to create mobile advertising campaigns on over 3,500 vehicles in seven national markets, including Phoenix. Brett Baker, general manager of Uber Cartops, has emphasized the significant potential of the Phoenix market for advertising demand and Uber's services. (ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix)
