🌱 Dead Man Found Near Phoenix Complex + New Affordable Housing

Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today:

  1. In west Phoenix, a man was discovered deceased near a shopping complex at 75th Avenue and McDowell Road on Monday. Upon arrival shortly before 5:00 p.m., officers identified signs of trauma on the victim, who was later confirmed dead by the Phoenix Fire Department. The incident is currently under investigation by local detectives. (12news.com KPNX)
  2. Phoenix City Council has approved $10 million in federal and Maricopa County funds for two new affordable housing projects. Half of this amount will transform a former Super 8 Motel at 8130 N. Black Canyon Highway into a supportive housing facility with features for disabled individuals. Councilwoman Betty Guardado emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating it addresses a pressing need for affordable housing in the community. (KTAR.com)
  3. A lithium-ion battery in a semi-truck ignited at the Arizona Lithium facility in nearby Tempe on Monday evening. Firefighters from multiple departments, including Phoenix and Chandler, successfully contained the blaze to the truck, preventing further spread within the facility.
