PHOENIX, AZ — Phoenix Police Department Sergeant Maggie Cox reported that on Monday just before 10 p.m., a cleaning crew found a man’s body in a storm drain beneath the manhole at Utopia Road and 7th Avenue in Phoenix.

Police don’t know how long the body was in the storm drain, but the body was decomposing, Cox said.

The Phoenix Fire Department helped the Phoenix Police Department move the body out of the storm drain. The body was then taken to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office so that a cause of death can be determined.
