86-year-old Marilyn Pauley and dozens of dogs died in a Phoenix house fire.

PHOENIX, AZ – Authorities say an elderly woman and dozens of dogs died in a Phoenix house fire Saturday, according to a USA Today report.

86-year-old Marilyn Pauley died at a local hospital following the fire, Phoenix Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Phillip Krynsky told The Arizona Republic Monday.

Krynsky added that as many as 40 dogs were also inside at the time of the fire. Firefighters were only able to save seven.

According to the outlet, authorities believe that the woman lived alone and foul play has been ruled out.
