Here are the top three stories today in Phoenix:
- Protecting and serving even the cutest Phoenix residents. A trooper with the Arizona Department of Public Safety discovered a kitten near the median on I-10 in November. The kitten had to undergo a leg amputation but an update revealed the cat is now healthy and living with her rescuer, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. Click the link to see a video of the rescue. (Arizona Daily Star)
- Multiple students became ill after coming into contact with a pesticide at a Phoenix elementary school. According to firefighters, nearly a dozen children at Midtown Primary School on 19th Avenue reported feeling sick. Investigators say the children came into contact with a weed killer that was sprayed close to playground woodchips. As of Tuesday afternoon, no children have been hospitalized. (WSAZ)
- A mother is demanding answers after her son died in the custody of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. According to officials, the man, 41-year-old Adam Delk, was in an armed confrontation with another driver, who had hit his car. Delk's mother said that he had fired a gun at the other driver in self-defense, after being approached with a knife. Delk was never convicted but spent nearly two years behind bars before attorneys could have his bond reduced. Merely hours before he was set to go home, Delk's mother received a call that he had died. (12news.com KPNX)
