Father Arrested After Toddler Accidentally Shot, Killed: Police

Police accused the father of keeping a loaded gun in a place where the child could get to it.

PHOENIX, AZ — The father of a 2-year-old boy who was killed in what police believe was an accidental shooting Thursday has been arrested, according to police.

Joshua Lewis, 29, was booked into Maricopa County Jail on suspicion of child abuse, police said.

Kayden Lewis was taken to a local hospital in critical condition after he was accidentally shot around 4:30 p.m. near 19th Avenue and Thunderbird Road Tuesday, police said. He ultimately died from his injuries.
