The first officer on scene, who was shot several times, was 23 years old and had been on the force for more than 2 years.

PHOENIX, AZ — Phoenix police released a short clip Thursday from their initial interaction with the man suspected of shooting five Phoenix police officers last Friday and wounding four more.

The video contains content that might be disturbing to some viewers.

The Phoenix Police Department promised to release a "critical incident briefing" video within 14 days of the shooting, in line with department protocol.

The clip shows the first officer on scene walking toward the door of a house near 54th Avenue and Elmwood Street, in response to a call about a woman who had been shot. Morris Jones, 36, the suspected shooter, stands in the doorway with the door open and encourages the officer to hurry.

Morris then shoots at the officer multiple times and the officer falls to the ground and runs away as he shouts into his radio that he's been shot. Police said Thursday that the officer was 23 years old and had been on the force for 2.5 years. He and all the other officers injured that morning have all been released from the hospital.

Police were called to the home around 2:15 a.m. Friday. Police later found Jones's ex-girlfriend Shatifah Lobley, 29, suffering from a gunshot wound inside the home. She was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries.

After the initial officer on scene retreated, backup arrived and surrounded the house, telling those inside to come out, police said.

Lobley's brother then stepped outside, with a baby in his arms. He placed the baby in a carrier just outside the door and then walked backward toward police with his hands up, police said. The baby was the 1-month-old daughter of Lobley and Jones, according to police.

When officers approached the home to get the baby, the Morris shot four more officers, police said.
Officers then returned fire, police said, and Morris barricaded himself inside. He was later found dead inside the house from a self-inflicted gunshot, police said.

In addition to the five officers who were shot that day, four others were hit by bullet shrapnel, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
