Former Arizona Cardinal Max Tuerk Dead At 26

PHOENIX — Former Southern California lineman and Arizona Cardinals team member Max Tuerk has died, the Cardinals announced on Twitter Sunday. He was 26.

The Associated Press reports Tuerk died while he was hiking with his parents in Cleveland National Forest in southern California. His manner of death has not yet been released.

Tuerk graduated from Santa Margarita High in Santa Margarita, California, before going to play for USC from 2012 to 2015, Fox 10 Phoenix reports.

Tuerk was drafted by the Chargers in 2016 but was inactive all season due to a knee injury. He went on to play one game for the Cardinals in 2017.

Tuerk's lone game with the Cardinals took place on Dec. 24, 2017, in which the team won 23-0 over the New York Giants, Arizona Sports reports. He was cut the following offseason.

USC Head Coach Clay Helton shared his condolences on Twitter.

"Heartbroken by the loss of Max Tuerk," Helton wrote. "Incredible person, teammate, and Trojan. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family."
