I-17 Upgrades For North Of Phoenix Subject Of Tuesday Meeting

The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at Clinton Elementary School in Black Canyon City. The hope is that the changes will ease congestion.

PHOENIX, AZ – Few people would argue with the fact that traffic could be better on 1-17 north of the city. That's why the Arizona Department of Transportation has a series of upgrades planned for the highway.

On Tuesday evening the department will host a two-hour meeting to present the plans and take questions from residents. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. t Clinton Elementary School in Black Canyon City.

The department has been working with the Federal Highway Administration on a plan that would add lanes with a focus on the 23-mile stretch between Anthem and Black Canyon City.

Construction is currently scheduled for 2021-22.
