Man Charged In Apartment Kidnapping Attempt

PHOENIX, AZ — A man was charged with four felonies in connection with a kidnapping attempt at an Arcadia apartment complex Monday, Phoenix police said.

Lorenzo Cannata, 42, was charged with three counts of kidnapping and one count of armed robbery, police said.

A total of six police officers and four people, including the accused man, were transported to a nearby hospital after the victims used pepper spray to get away from the man who was holding them in a room against their will, police said. This took place in a unit of the Capri on Camelback apartments near Camelback Road and 40th Street, according to police.

If convicted of kidnapping, Cannata faces a prison sentence of between four and 10 years.

If convicted of armed robbery, Cannata faces between two and 8.7 years in prison.
Cannata is currently being held on $20,000 bail.
