Man Dies In Collision With Fire Truck, Tree: Police

The fire truck was responding to an emergency call with its lights and sirens on when the crash happened, according to police.

PHOENIX, AZ — A driver is dead after he collided with a fire truck on its way to an emergency call, lost control and hit a tree, according to Phoenix police.

William Dodd, 57, was treated by the crew of the fire truck and was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.

Dodd and the fire truck, which had its lights and sirens on, were both headed south in the 4500 block of North 35th Avenue around 4:15 Tuesday when Dodd attempted to pass the fire engine on the right, according to police.

This resulted in a collision that made Dodd's sedan lose control and hit a tree, police said.
