Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today:

  1. In central Phoenix, a man thought to be missing was discovered dead with multiple gunshot wounds. Phoenix police, responding to a 1:00 a.m. report near 7th Street and Thomas Road, found the unidentified victim inside a home. The circumstances leading to the shooting remain under investigation, and no details about a potential suspect have been released. (ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix)
  2. Three metro Phoenix businesses have created a year-round Halloween experience for die-hard fans at the intersection of Alma School and Elliot roads. Terror Trader, the centerpiece of this "horror corridor" located in nearby Chandler, offers an expansive, eerie marketplace filled with curiosities and antiques, with owner Jason Swarr fostering a community where all "Halloween 365" fans feel welcomed. Nearby, Spooky's Swirls blends the macabre with mouthwatering as a bakery and horror museum, while Asylum Records merges horror and music fandom with its vast collection of memorabilia and in-store celebrity signings. (The Arizona Republic)
  3. Flu shots are now available at several Phoenix-area pharmacies, though Dr. Shad Marvasti from the University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix suggests waiting until September or early October for extended protection through the flu season. Arizona saw a rise in flu cases last year, peaking in December. Marvasti advises parents of healthy children in this age bracket to consider vaccination this year, while emphasizing hand hygiene, cleanliness, and monitoring sugar intake to bolster immunity.
