Teen Shot And Killed While Driving Near I-17: Police

The teen drove off the road into a drainage ditch after being shot near I-17 and Thunderbird Road, according to police.

PHOENIX, AZ — A teen was shot and killed while driving near I-17 and Thunderbird Road early Wednesday morning in Phoenix, according to police.

The driver, Jayden Carnow-Garcia, 18, was pronounced dead from gunshot wounds at the scene, according to police.

Police found Carnow-Garcia around 3:55 a.m. Wednesday inside of a vehicle in a drainage ditch near 13700 North Black Canyon Highway, police said. The vehicle had been hit by bullets, according to police. Police believe he drove into the ditch after he was shot.

No suspects had been arrested and detectives were still working to find out what led up to the shooting as of Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
