McSally, McCain's Widow And Daughter Decry Violent Trump Video
A spoof video of President Trump killing his enemies, including the late AZ Sen. John McCain, was denounced by Sen. McSally and the McCains.
ARIZONA – Senator Martha McSally (R-Ariz.) and the late Arizona Senator John McCain’s widow and daughter expressed their disapproval of a violent Trump spoof video in no uncertain terms, azcentral.com reported. The Trump-supporters' spoof video, first unearthed by the New York Times on Sunday, shows Trump in the “Church of Fake News” slaying his critics such as political leaders and the media by using gunfire, fire or his fists. The video also uses fake imagery depicting Trump stabbing Sen. McCain in the back of his neck.
The Trump administration quickly condemned the video, and Sen. McSally did the same in a Monday statement: “This video is outrageous and out of bounds. I condemn the use of Arizona Senator John McCain’s image – along with other political leaders and journalists – in the strongest possible terms. I am glad President Trump and his campaign condemns this reprehensible video. All Americans need to reject this kind of hateful rhetoric. We can disagree politically without degrading our culture with disgusting images like this. That’s a value Senator McCain taught us, and we need to remember it today.”
McCain’s widow Cindy tweeted Monday, saying the video served to “violate every norm our society expects from its leaders.” She further stated, “I stand with @whca in registering my outrage.”

Meanwhile Sen. McCain’s daughter Meghan, a cohost on ABC’s “The View,” condemned the video on the show. “How easy for all of you judging me that I’m offended and upset by the video. You try doing this when it’s a member of your family [that] has continued to have this happen over and over and over again,” she said. “And you conservatives on Twitter, if this were the opposite, and it happened at an Obama event, you’d be screaming bloody murder. So stop.”
Former Arizona Republican Senator Jeff Flake, who was shot at in a 2017 gunman attack on Republican congressional members in Virginia, said, “For those of us who have seen a colleague shot, and have been shot at, there is no humor in this whatsoever.” Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) sustained serious injuries in the incident.
